Games Make Learning Easier

The best way to get children learning is through games. It’s easier for youngsters to learn if they don’t feel like they’re in class or studying. Here are some fun ideas to practice vocabulary words at home. Maybe the rest of the family can join in too!

4 Fun Vocabulary Games You Need to Try

Vocabulary Charades:  All you need to do is write down a word with its definition on a flashcard. When the player picks a card, they have to draw the word, act it out, or explain it in a sentence. Each player should get a minute to guess as many words as possible. Word Whiz: Each player will need a dictionary, paper, and a pencil. The first player must pick a word from the dictionary, say it aloud, and spell it if necessary. The rest of the players have to write down what they think the word means. Once everyone is done, they have to read their definitions. The first player will read the real meaning, and if someone got it right, they get a point. Cut-Outs: Have your vocabulary list ready. Your child has to cut out pictures from magazines or newspapers that describe each vocabulary word and then glue them to a piece of paper. For an extra challenge, they can try making a story with the words and the cut-outs. Bean Bag Toss: You will need to write different vocabulary words on index cards. Then you have to place the cards upside down on the floor to create a board. Each player has to throw a bean bag, aiming at the index cards. If the bean bag lands on a card, they have read the word and give its definition or use it in a sentence. If they get it correct, they keep the card and get a point.
