Start the School Year off Right

Being properly prepared for the first day of school can make the upcoming school year a lot less daunting. To help your child feel ready and empowered, use the following back to school tips to prepare.

Use a Day Planner

A day planner is a useful tool that can benefit all students. If your child doesn't already use one, give them one at the start of this school year. Make sure they write down their daily homework assignments, important test dates, and social commitments so that they don't lose track of anything. Not only will this help them stay organized, it can also help them manage their time better.

Break Bad Habits

Bad habits can be holding your child back from having their best school year yet. Help them get rid of their bad habits and replace them with better ones through the help of routines. For example, if your child procrastinates and is often left stressing over homework late at night, help them develop an after-school routine that will ensure they get their homework done as soon as they get home.

Get Organized

Getting organized can help your child reach success in school and in their personal life. Along with a day planner, encourage your child to keep a calendar of important dates. Teach them to create to-do lists daily so that they can keep track of everything they would like to get done. To-do lists will help them stay focused and motivated as they work, making things flow much more smoothly. Finally, teach them to prioritize tasks and to break down larger tasks so that they're easier to manage.
